1. Eligibility criteria

A. Admission requirements:
Awarded Bachelor of Science degree (min. 180 ECTS) in Agriculture/Agronomy, Plant Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Master 1 Genetics, Molecular Biosciences or related relevant fields. If you are in the last year of your first higher education degree, you will have to answer “yes” to the first question1

*Do you hold an undergraduate/bachelor degree or equivalent as mentioned above?

By answering NO to this question you are not eligible to the Erasmus Mundus master programme in Plant Breeding and therefore can’t pursue with this application form.

1 While you must necessarily have obtained your first higher education degree at the time of enrolment, the EMJMD emPLANT consortium accepts applications from students in the last year of their first higher education degree.


B. *Have you already benefited from an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree scholarship or an Erasmus Mundus Master Course/Joint Doctorate scholarship in the past?

3. Documents to upload

In case a document is considered mandatory, it must be included online. If an applicant fails to do so, the application will be immediately rejected without any possibility of appeal. Should any of the mandatory documents be corrupted/damaged/illegible or wrong, the application will be rejected.
Each field accepts only one document. If you would like to upload more than one document in the same field, first you have to merge those documents into a single one. ‘PDF Merge’ is a simple tool (free on the internet) to merge several PDF documents into one.

  • Accepted file formats are the following : PDF, PNG and JPG
  • Maximum file size : 1 MB. If you want to reduce the size of your PDF, you can use SmallPDF
  • No special characters are allowed in file names (spaces, commas, accents ...)

Applicants must upload the following documents:

*Diploma / Certificate of degree: certificate proving the obtained degree (BSc and MSc if applicable) – must be issued by the University where the degree was obtained, dated, signed and stamped, otherwise it will not be considered valid. If you are in your last year of higher education, please provide a signed and stamped statement from your university that declares you are in your last year and mentioning your expected date and month of graduation. Please add an English translation if your documents are not in English.


*Transcript of records: Must be issued by the University, stating in details all courses taken and grades obtained in the course as well as a general grading scale and average necessary grade (BSc and MSc if applicable). This document must be dated, signed and stamped, otherwise it will not be considered valid. Please note that you must upload the transcripts of records regarding all the years of your course. Please add an English translation if your documents are not in English.


Ranking in the class: If that information doesn't appear on your transcript of records, it is compulsory to provide a letter from your university attesting your ranking in the class.


Language skills: if your mother tongue is not English, it is mandatory to upload an official English language certificate. If you have chosen UPV in year 2 and if Spanish is not your mother tongue, it is mandatory to upload an official Spanish language certificate.

*Proof of residence: Document must have been issued by an official institution within 12 months before the application deadline of applying for an EMJMD student scholarship. Accepted documents: a residence certificate issued in accordance with the candidate’s municipality normal registration rules OR a certificate from the candidate’s place of work, study or training issued by the employer or institution in question (See details in the "Application procedure" page).
